Icarus

Flew too high for any life

As loves scorching height

Lay upon molten pain

And scarred deep in flight

Broken feathers and crooked wing

Torn apart in hateful night

Bloodied tatter on peaceful ground

Wounds open to the fiercest night

Sorrow birds last night

In deaths still trance

Icarus did not burn away grace

But lovers touch seared freedom away

The sun his release

And to Icarus

Gift Apollo&'s heavenly kiss

As flames lick and trace

The fallen of which they'll miss
